UniProtKB description:  Catalyzes the oxidation of levoglucosan (1,6-anhydro-beta-D-glucose, LG) to 3-dehydrolevoglucosan (3-keto-LG) (PubMed:30224354). Exhibits high substrate specificity toward levoglucosan and NAD(+) for the oxidative reaction (PubMed:30224354). Exhibits weak activities (about 4% compared with that of LG) toward L-sorbose and 1,5-anhydro-D-glucitol, and activity toward D-xylose is also detectable (1.7%) (PubMed:30224354). Can also efficiently catalyzes the NADH-dependent reduction (reverse reaction) of 3-keto-LG (PubMed:30224354).
