This Rossmann-related domain is found at the N-terminal end of the C-terminal domain region of the cellulose-binding protein Sde182 from Saccharophagus degradans (Swiss:Q21PD3), which seems to have capacity to bind plant carbohydrates. This domain shows an alpha/beta configuration with a central beta-sheet of eight beta-strands and 12 alpha-helices. It is structurally similar to pyrimidine-specific ribonucleoside hydrolases (NH) [1]. This domain is also found in other uncharacterised bacterial and fungal proteins.

This domain is found at the C-terminal end of Cellulose-binding protein Sde0182 from Saccharophagus degradans (Swiss:Q21PD3), which seems to have capacity to bind plant carbohydrates. This region shows a beta-sandwich fold that consists of two beta-sheets with seven beta-strands in total. It has structural similarity to a polycystic kidney domain (PKD, Pfam:PF00801) and lacks the solvent exposed aromatic residues typically associated with an ability to bind carbohydrates [1]. This domain is also found in other uncharacterised bacterial and fungal proteins.
